I need to get something off my chest.
Of all the ways we destroy our environment, bottled water is probably the dumbest — and that is saying something.
It doesn’t get us across town or across the world. It doesn’t heat or cool our homes. It doesn’t keep the lights on in our schools and offices. It doesn’t do anything that tap water doesn’t do — except drain overtaxed resources and pollute the goddamn atmosphere.
She’s rich as fuck — although I get that that doesn’t matter. The very rich want more simply for the sake of having more. But shill for something else! Anything else!
She can’t be that clueless that she hasn’t even considered the moral consequences of this contract, right? It must have at least occurred to her at some point over the years she’s been working with this company, right?
So we can assume she’s thought about it — and dismissed it. Passed the buck to the poor people who suffer most from climate change. Cashed her big check. Drank her umpteen overpriced bottles of water that she’s no doubt contractually obligated to be photographed with. Recycled the bottles on occasion and decided her pretty ass was clean.
Seriously.
No wonder Brad dumped your selfish ass.
PS: I realize this won’t show up on their Google Alert. So … SMART WATER. JENNIFER ANISTON. SMART WATER. JENNIFER ANISTON. SMART WATER. JENNIFER ANISTON.
Amen, sister. You need water on the go? It’s not that hard to carry an environmentally-safe, reusable water bottle with you.
Good god I hate bottled water. It’s the biggest scam ever, tricking people into thinking that their tap water is poison, when we live in one of the most advanced industrialized countries in the world. If you’re so scared of your tap water, buy a filter.
I’m by no means innocent. On long drives, you have to get a bottle of water if you don’t have your own bottle, but I’m working really hard to break that habit.Ok, I get you’re upset about the bottled water, but freaking out on Jennifer Aniston? Seriously? It’s not her fault the water is bottled. Honestly. “No wonder Brad dumped your selfish ass”? Excuse me? He dumped her because she drinks bottled water? Well that’s fucking news to me! And here I thought it was because he fell in love with Angelina, but looks like I’ve been wrong all along! It’s because she drinks fucking bottled water! That poor girl! If only she had known! Ladies, don’t drink bottled water because it makes you stupid and guys dump you! What the actual fuck. Like, is this being serious? I’m so fucking done with people. I’m sorry you don’t like bottled water. I understand it’s an issue. I try not to use bottles. But Jennifer Aniston has literally nothing to do with bottled water. It’s not like she goes to the factories every day and, by hand, fills every fucking bottle of fucking water in the whole fucking world. God. If only she had known, then she would still be with Brad Pitt! That poor soul!
LOL is this a joke? There’s so much wrong with this.
Also, bottled water destroying the environment? This is the means of destruction you pick out? Not the entire factory farming industry (which is some insane percentage like 99% of all farms now - not an exaggeration) that contributes more to the destruction of the environment than ALL FORMS OF TRANSPORTATION COMBINED.
That’s right. If you eat meat, you could have an electric car, only use reusable bottles to drink from and bags for shopping, and you would still be a part of the biggest contribution to the END OF THE WORLD.
…I think I just used this as an excuse to get that out there.
THERE IS A FUCKING DEBATE ABOUT FUCKING BOTTLED WATER AND INNOCENT CIVILIANS OF GREECE ARE BEING ATTACKED!
I CAN’T DEAL WITH IT!
To the original poster, i will now buy bottles of the water in bulk from costco every single month.
oh sweet jesus. Okay not all tap water is totally safe and good for you. Some people that have well water probably shouldn’t drink their water without some sort of filter which, can be very costly. However, bottled water companies can be a bit selfish by not giving a shit and just coming into small towns trying to develop plants. It almost happened to my town with Poland Springs and it would have done a lot more harm than good to us. Either way think of what you guys are flipping out about. Bottled. Fucking. Water. Chill out.
I’m just reading this whole thing and going “WHAT THE FUCK?”
It’s is bottle water!
It’s only bottled water!
It’s only farming!
It’s only packaging!
It’s only cars!
The issue with bottled water is not that it’s an effective way to DESTROY EVERYTHING, but that in countries where tap water is ACTUALLY FUCKING SAFE (I’M LOOKING AT YOU CANADA), we mass-produce plastic and fill it with water that is sometimes less filtered than tap water (hello, Dasani).
Now, as for the ad. No, it’s not Jennifer Aniston’s fault. Whoever says that needs a good reality check.
The thing with environment is that no issue exists on its own. With bottled water comes over-packaging, transportation, filtration that is not actually decent filtration, and making people pay for a basic right. So, to whoever says “we sould stop caring about that, kids are dying from AIDS in africa!”, fuck you and not so kindly.
It is a rather localized issue: Yeah, bottled water is safer for you in (many!) countries and places where tap water isn’t drinkable; however the way things should be fixed is not by tons of bottled water; it is by installing decent filtration systems and by stopping to poison ever single water stream around us. Easier said than done, but it’s not by paying goddamn Naya that anything’s going to change.
So yeah, it is only bottled water. But there are so many small habits pertaining to the environment that need to change, and it is not by dismissing one of them that we’re going to help.
So yes, the original poster is overreacting. The people who reblog this with “I’m gonna by eight metric tons of bottled water to spite you” are…not better than those who say “I’m going to say -ist things because activists piss me off!”, sorry. Gross exaggeration, but the sentiment feels the same. One change at a time guys.
OVERALL, I’m not for a complete ban on bottled water, because it is useful, we’re not always near a tap, and not all countries have functioning taps. However, buying bottled water in countries were you use drinkable water to wash your car instead of just filling a re-usable bottle with tap water strikes me as a habit to drop, and fast. It’s not the end of the world, but guys, one gesture at the time.
SORRY FOR BY BIG SOAPBOX MOMENT
BUT ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES TURN ME INTO A TL;DR RAMBLING MACHINE
Sorry that it came off that I was dismissing the issue here. I wasn’t.
no problem bro, pretty sure you weren’t! I tend to get super vocal on these issues ;3;
